My husband has owned here for over 30 years. While it is not the fanciest place, it's a great location. The rooms have been updated and they are just fine. We love the owners lounge, the staff and the great service, not to mention some great views. The owners lounge lanai is the best place to watch the fireworks.

The Imperial Hawaii Resort was an excellent family hotel choice for Honolulu. Staff is knowledgeable, professional and very helpful. The ocean is an easy two block walk from the hotel, with a beach that is safe for kids. They allow you to use their designated towels if you like, and even have a place to wash sand off before you go back to your room. Easy valet parking, ABC store on one side with groceries, and Denny’s with a good kid menu and very considerate waitstaff on the other. There are also lots of upscale restaurants, bars and coffee options in easy Walking distance. Free hula and lei making classes were a big hit with our kids. Rooms are clean and comfortable with kitchen options. This facility and location made it easy for us to pack a lot of fun into our short three day visit.

We just returned from an incredible 10-day stay at The Imperial Hawaii Resort, and I honestly can’t say enough good things about our experience. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and aloha that made us feel right at home. The location is absolutely unbeatable—just steps from Waikiki Beach and surrounded by amazing restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. We loved being able to walk everywhere while still having a peaceful place to come back to at the end of the day. Our suite was spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped, with a kitchen that made longer stays so convenient. Having that extra space truly elevated the experience, especially over a 10-day visit. Everything was clean, functional, and thoughtfully laid out. One of our favorite features was the rooftop pool and deck—the views are breathtaking, whether you’re enjoying the sunshine during the day or taking in the city lights at night. It’s such a special place to relax and soak in the beauty of Oʻahu. What truly sets this resort apart, though, is the people. The staff and locals we interacted with were incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. You can feel the aloha spirit here—it’s genuine, not forced—and it made our trip truly memorable. Every interaction felt warm and personal, and that means everything. Yes, the resort has character and history, and that charm is part of what makes it special. It’s comfortable, welcoming, and an excellent value in the heart of Waikiki. We had such a wonderful time that there’s no question—we will absolutely be returning. If you’re looking for a place with an unbeatable location, great amenities, and truly amazing people, The Imperial Hawaii Resort is it. Mahalo for an unforgettable stay!

It is an older hotel and the rooms need a major update, some of the rooms look like they are from the 1990s minus the flat screen test. The bathtub in my room was partly broken and if you stepped near the drain the fiber glass would shift and snap. With that said, I know ive painted a rather grim picture, but youre not here to stay in a hotel room, this hotel is great for walking to places, and its a short walk to the beach. The staff here were amazing and helpful, and I can not praise them enough, that said if you stay here go to the misubi cafe that is next door for a cheap meal, and the bakery around the corner for a coffee and a snack. I highly recommend this area and the staff, but there is room for improvement.

Our favorite place to stay on Waikiki. The Valet Parking is the best. Location is 1/2 block to the ocean through or in front of the Sheraton Hotel. The rooms are well appointed. Full kitchen with all the basics, plus extras you can borrow from Housekeeping, like a rice cooker, air fryer or blender. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Yes the rooms are slightly dated but the location, amenities, service, and price are unbeatable. We stayed for a week with our toddler and would definitely come back. The location is perfect for families in my opinion. Beach access around the corner, restaurants and shopping galore. The staff are lovely, too.

The Imperial Resort was an absolute 10/10 for our first family trip from Australia to Hawaii. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredible friendly, welcoming and so easy to communicate with. Every team member we encountered genuinely seemed to enjoy working there, which made the whole experience feel even more special. Our room was fantastic, and the facilities were a huge win for the kids. The pool, spa, hot tubs, sauna, and gym kept everyone entertained and made our stay feel like a true holiday retreat. And the location… unbeatable. Right in the heart of Waikiki with everything at our doorstep including one of the best ABC Stores in all of Waikiki right in the same building. The Imperial exceeded our expectations in every way, and when we return to Hawaii, we will 100% stay here again. Highly recommend!
